Goat Herding on the Tyne: November 2015

Not an entirely random name for a blog, but close. I am not a goat herder - in the usual meaning of that word; nor does the Urban Dictionary definition apply to me either (for a decade at least): an extremely drunk male who having lost all self-respect and standards, loses his powers of discrimination when pulling females. It is said that Gateshead derives its name from a settlement near an early Tyne crossing where goats once roamed. The goats are long gone, but me - I like to roam these parts - or rather run - exploring new places, rediscovering old ones in and around Gateshead and Newcastle when I'm out jogging. This blog is a collection of my photos, thoughts, observations, rants, loves and hates about Newcastle and Gateshead.

I, Daniel Blake: Portland House Makeover for Ken Loach film

I have noticed film crews and lighting equipment around the city centre over the last couple of weeks: at the Central Library, Portland House and Broadacre house (Market Street). Apparently, Ken Loach is making a film called "I, Daniel Blake".

They are out there filming today. Spoiler alert! They have constructed a fake wall on the outside of the building I presume to give the appearance that some windows have been smashed and replaced by temporary wooden boards, on which the main character of the film daubs graffiti.

What a clart on! I can't believe how much time and effort, and how many people are involved in shooting a short scene for a film.
